I am passionate about super health, obsessed with it! It is what I read about and research constantly. Food and skin care are what I play with. I love trying to find the most delicious ways to eat the healthiest foods. I love creating my own totally natural lotions and cleansers. I love inspiring people to move their bodies and push themselves. I love helping people to understand that their health is primarily in their hands. It’s in your lifestyle decisions.
I am a 54 year old mother of 2 children ages 9 and 12. I want to teach them to live a healthy life. I wish they taught it in our schools.
I believe in moderation in some things. Exercise comes to mind. Not exercising is obviously unhealthy, but I also think that exercise can be taken to the extreme. It can take away more than it gives to the body. In some areas I think extremes are the way to go. Nutrition is a prime example. Why eat for just moderate health when you can eat for extreme health?
I was born in Chicago, but moved to Toronto, Canada before I was 10. In Toronto I attended Canada’s National Ballet School, a professional school for ballet dancers. I didn’t choose to follow a career in ballet, but the training gave me discipline and a great sense of the importance of form in physical fitness. At a very young age I knew what it was to feel good moving.
I have been teaching Pilates and spin in Virginia Beach for over 11 years, both privately and at fitness facilities. I feel the need to reach out to people who are not at a gym, or who don’t have a wellness plan. The people I meet where I instruct have already made the big leap. I know there are so many others out there who don’t feel well and just need a kickstart and some guidance.
I currently eat a mostly raw vegan diet. Some people may think it’s extreme, but to me it seems so natural. If someone had told me years ago that is where my path would lead I would have had a really good laugh. It’s been a slow progression. I started with low fat, then just very balanced, eating clean, partly raw and recently almost all raw. While I support other diets, in particular eating clean, I believe a plant based diet is the ultimate for your body and for the earth.
Books like the China Study by Dr. T. Colin Campbell, The 80/10/10 Diet by Dr. Douglas Graham and Conscious Eating by Dr. Gabriel Cousens have influenced my thoughts on food tremendously. I was inspired to complete David Wolfe’s Ultimate Raw Nutrition Certification through the MindBody Institute.
A few years ago I started giving raw food classes amongst friends and have expanded that into a series of Raw Infusion Classes. I am just about to revamp that class now into it’s next generation. I recognize the challenge people have integrating superior eating habits into those of their families and friends, and I want to create a method for keeping everyone happy.
I used to think exercise was the be all and end all of health, and that everything else came in a distant second. Now I see how interconnected it all is. You can’t address your exercise program without looking at other aspects that contribute to your wellness. It just doesn’t work. Food, de-stressing, sleep and hydration must form a part of your health plan or it all falls apart.
You will have my focus. You will have my enthusiasm and optimism. You will have my passion working for you to bring you to your ultimate level of health and wellness.
