Avocado Toast with Hemp Hearts
I love, love, love avocados. Hardly a day goes by that I don't eat some of this creamy, delectible food.
Avocado toast is a delicious snack some people have been eating for years, but I just figured it out a little while ago.
I have always said that avocado is nature's butter, but in this case you get to slather the butter on - the more the better!
So here is my take on this tried and true comfort food.
Toast:
1 slice of the best sprouted grain bread you can find, toasted. If you can make it a raw essene bread you will rock it out of the park, but then don't toast it!
Put on top:
1/2 an avocado mashed a little
1 rounded tsp. hemp seeds (hearts)
Sprinkle of Himalayan pink salt
Freshly ground black pepper
If you've got a fresh from the garden tomato, by all means slice that up on the avocado mash.

What's in it for you?
Avocado - Oh my are avocados a superfood! They have more potassium than bananas. Avocados are extremely high in fat, but the majority of this fat is oleic acid. Oleic acid has been linked to reduced inflammation (really important!!) and is believed to be anti-cancer. They are also high in fiber. Numerous studies have shown that eating avocado can improve heart disease risk factors like Total, LDL and HDL cholesterol, as well as blood triglycerides.
Hemp Hearts - Superfood #2, hemp seeds,
or hearts, are tiny little seeds that are
packed with nutrients. They are incredibly
high in magnesium, which most people are
low in (and which helps reduce stress and
anxiety). They are very high in protein, in
fact many vegan protein powder include
hemp protein and you can buy hemp
protein on its own. They are high in B
vitamins, E, zinc and iron. Lastly, they are
powerhouses of Omega 3 fatty acids that
work to support your brain, hormones
and heart. A great addition to your diet!
Himalayan Pink Salt - White table salt is a processed food that has been striped of minerals. Himalayan salt is salt in it's most natural state with all the 84 minerals in place. I use this salt in everything from my food to my toothpaste. I even use it in the water I rinse my mouth with when I brush my teeth. I use this kind. Although I keep it in the pretty, expensive jar (in the picture) that I got at Whole Foods before I found this brand much cheaper.
Black Pepper - Aids in digestion by stimulating hydrochloric acid, is antioxidant and antibacterial and stimulates the breakdown of fat cells.
OMG, this stuff is power intense! Look at this list!
It's longer than the recipe!
